A VEHICLE FOR UNIVERSAL MOVEMENT
(on the ceiling, walls, etc.)
V. Naumov, Mechanical Engineer, Kiev
A vehicle for "universal movement" for which neither a top nor a bottom exists and which can freely move around at a rather high speed along both the "ceiling" and vertical surfaces, can be used in a wide variety of ways: repairs and construction of bridges, assembling of gigantic covered halls or stadiums, cleaning and inserting of glass in skyscrapers, television towers as well as the viewing of caves, movement in inaccessible mountain regions, laying of pipes and other communications in tunnels, etc.
The main principle of the device: 8 wells of large diameter with suction-cups made of soft rubber attached to them, 9 on each wheel. The activation and deactivation of the movement of air in the suction-cups is realized via a portable computer which tracks the direction of the movement of the vehicle from a distance. In order to lighten the weight of the vehicle, all the details are made of especially light alloys and plastic. The working compartment is equipped from both sides with extending bridges from which the repair and other kinds of work can be conducted. The vehicle is produced in various modifications, from gigantic "bridge" models to small ones for working on the walls and ceilings of small buildings.
A VEHICLE FOR UNIVERSAL MOVEMENT
(on the ceiling, walls, etc.)
1. Make a stand out of metal pipes 0.8 cm.
2. Put a board on the stand and depict a "sea" in it.
3. Put a white ship 20 x 7 x 9 cm (cf. sketch) on the "sea".
4. Erect 4 supports of metal plates above the stand and affix a horizontal board to them (this is the support and surface of the bridge, a "fragment" of the bridge).
5. Make a model of the "universal machine" according to the sketch.
6. Attach the model below the surface of the bridge in the middle.
7. Paint everything gray except for the metal parts and the sea.
8. The machine is green and gray.
