NIGHT LIGHTING OF A CITY OR REGION

N. Stavkin, Student at the Technical Institute, Pskov

The project for night lighting of a new type envisages a princi- pally completely different method for solving this problem then traditional "surface" lighting such as the illumination of streets or squares with lights or lampposts. In the new proposal we are talking about a rather bright (which would allow one to read as though it were daytime) illumination not of individual streets or buildings, but of entire regions not only of cities, but of the surrounding rural areas as well. We are talking about artificially created special light "arcs" which will constantly "stand" in the sky at night at a great height above the earth.

These "arcs" are formed from shots by special rocket-charges.

leaving brightly shining arches of gleaming gas in the night sky.

The shining of such gas "arcs" can remain in the sky for one-two hours, after which the shots can be repeated. The advantages of such illumination are obvious - the gas "arozite" is absolutely harmless, delivering it to great heights will be carried out by guided rockets, the light and esthetic qualities of this method are self-evident.

NIGHT LIGHTING OF A CITY OR REGION

1. Build a table (oval) 140 cm in length and 75 cm in width and 75 cm in height.

2. On it make a model of a territory (flat) with cities, forests, fields.

3. Six thin arcs are attached above the model (like in the sketch). The arcs are made from wire, inside of which tiny lights are installed (like those used in displays and advertisements). The maximum height above the model is 25 cm.
