STREET CHORAL PERFORMANCES

The project envisages the arrangement of 36 music stands with notes and texts in the most crowded commercial areas of the city, in places where people are especially distracted by purchases, are looking at window displays, talking about goods, fashions, money, where the agitated crowd is only interested in the acqui- sition of material things. The arrangement of the music stands and the solemn, tranquil melodies, and the sublime texts force them at that moment to withdraw from everyday concerns and, hav- ing formed two rows near the music stands, to join the fine, bright chorus, after which they can look at their banal everyday existence in a different way. An experiment was conducted in the commercial areas of Hamburg, and according to testimonies by par- ticipants, good results were achieved.
