INFORMATION VIA THE NOOSPHERE

(according to A. Vernadsky)

A. Vernadsky, Astronomer, Moscow

1. The theory of the great Russian scientist prof. A. Vernadsky about the noosphere will be introduced briefly below: Our earth is surrounded by a few shells: the toposphere, the ionosphere, etc. Occupying a special place among such shells is the noosphere which consists of a unique "field" of information, accumulated by humanity over the entire course of its existence. Vernadsky's theory rests on the fact that all the ideas of entire civilizations, countries and even of an individual person, if they are sufficiently clearly formed, are preserved forever in this universal field of culture in addition to the material forms. The noosphere is a sort of eternally alive archive of the thoughts of all humanity. And bits of this knowledge can be acquired directly by some people; these people are sort of always plugged in to this sphere and without the aid of books and other material information they can "check" the ideas of Ancient Egypt, Greece, Modern Europe . . . the entire matter depends on the con- stant "tuning in" to the noosphere. This explains many of the mysteries of culture, in particular, the simultaneous emergence of similar ideas at various points on the planet, etc.

INFORMATION VIA THE NOOSPHERE

(according to A. Vernadsky)

1. Build a table 100 cm high and 60 x 52 cm.

2. Cut the "Earth" from styrofoam, semi-oval in shape with rounded edges.

3. Cut from styrofoam imitation sculptures of ancient temples, pyramids, medieval cathedrals, a Chinese pagoda, Mayan pyr- amids, and a modern building. None of these should be more than 3 x 3 x 3 cm. in size.

4. Attach 6-8 white sticks to the top of each of these running upward in the shape of a fan.

5. Attach to them the semi-spherical form cut out of styrofoam.
