MY FAVORITE BOOK

This project involves changing the role of the book in our house - in a house where hundreds or even thousands of books stand on all kinds of shelves in all the rooms and in the corridor. Under such conditions, where many books stand next to one another, it is difficult to make a selection of which one to read: the simple mass of books in general affects our sight and our consciousness.

This resembles many people at a big party, where from one mul- titude gathered in one place, it is impossible, more precisely very difficult to prefer one to the others.

The project proposes the construction in the room of a special bookcase with drawers, arranged in 6 or more rows. Each box (drawer) has only one book inside. Storing of books in this way, separately, in a place closed from everyone, imparts to the book the quality of being a unique object, an especially important treasure living in a space that is specifically designated for it. The prowess of getting this book out, reading it, looking at it, is connects with the opening of such a special box, imparts to it a unique significance, a new, profound, repeal- able meaning.

MY FAVORITE BOOK

1. Construct a cabinet with drawers (cf. sketch) from wood.

The back wall of the cabinet can be covered with plywood.

Leave the cabinet a natural wood color.

2. The knobs on the cabinet are wood.
