CONCENTRATION IN THE CLOSET

V. Korneichuk, Writer, Ulan-Ude

An enormous quantity of problems which involve the ability to concentrate all one's constant attention, especially when this involves not relaxation but rather some important productive work (especially in working on a complicated project), arise in a family if there is a deficit of living space, or even when there is a separate room for working, because of the noise contin- ually reaching the room it is also impossible to concentrate.

The proposal envisages a place for such concentration of atten- tion in a clothes closet. For the benefit of such a solution, the following arguments can be put forward: 1. The closet inside the room can create additional sound iso- lation 2. Space inside the closet is small in comparison to any room, and where there are no distracting objects, this concen- trates attention on the object of study more so than a room can.

3. A certain discomfort stimulates the creative process, in contrast to actual everyday life, as an opposite misfor- tune, tragedy, extreme to normal existance.

4. The establishment in the closet of independent lighting (25 watt lamps) allows for the complete altering of the time of sleep and waking, to turn off from the pace and rhythm of life of the family, to create one's own disarray that is comfortable for work.

5. If you stock up on all the things necessary for a prolonged stay in the closet - food, water, a radio, books - then using the "inside of the closet" situation and with the consent of the other members of the family - in addition to productive prolonged creative activity, you can also medi- tate and conduct other experiments while as though sitting in the capsule of a space ship but without all the hard- shlps of a flight into space.

CONCENTRATION IN THE CLOSET
